Hey friends. It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately. Again, this is mostly work wear and all pants outfits. It’s also a shorter round up than some of the previous posts. I had a few busy days where I didn’t get to take pictures, and I spent the last two weekends in work out wear, lounge wear or pajamas. We have not been anywhere for the past two weekends. Covid cases have spiked here again (higher than 2020) so we are mostly staying in again except for work.
This first outfit was inspired by Rena at Fine Whatever . I have gotten lazy about planning outfits the night before so I’m usually grabbing whatever I can make work that morning. I was browsing a link up while having my morning coffee and found her inspiration outfit with a striped cardigan and olive pants. I instantly thought of my striped blazer and this is the result.
This outfit was the result of another “grab and go” morning. My first criteria is “What doesn’t need ironing/steaming?” I pulled the top and worked from there. I decided I wanted to pair it with black pants and since this is a lot of black, I chose a blazer that plays up the lighter colors of the top. I also choose grey snakeskin pumps for a little more contrast instead of going with black shoes. I like to have the contrast with black pants outfits.
I can’t go too long in neutral colors before I must interject color. I kept the base of the outfit neutral with black and white. These pants are great for work, but I find that the higher waist accents the tummy in certain pants, especially these. Anyone else have this issue? I’m experimenting with undergarments to alleviate this issue and tried these undies with these pants. They are a good option, but I don’t want to wear them every day.
A basic grey suit with a gingham top. This top is too pretty to be hidden by this suit, so I need to wear it on its own some more.
More color. Red is one of the Pantone’s colors for fall 2021, so I started thinking about fall transitions and paired these pants with a blouse that has some fall colors in it.
It’s too hot for fall here, so my mind was immediately back to summer. Nude pumps help keep the black bottoms summery.
I had a doctor’s appointment a couple of weeks ago. I paired my straight leg jeans with a tee and kimono for a comfy outfit for the trip to the doctor’s office. I think I’m done with check ups and doctors for the year, at least for a few months. I do have a follow up with the allergist in a few months. I haven’t mentioned it lately, but the eye makeup allergy is one step forward, two steps back all the time. Just when I think I have it figured out, I try to add or bring something back and have a reaction. My latest reaction was to my beloved Stila eyeliner. It didn’t smudge, but apparently it contributed to my allergy problems.
The hubby also had a medical procedure last week and I had to drive him. I had to sit in the car and wait due to COVID precautions, so I chose shorts for that. The top and shorts are old, but I still enjoy wearing them.
Do you favor pants outfits or skirts? Pants are just more practical for my current season of work .
