Olive blazer and navy pencil skirt

When I say this olive blazer is old, I mean like 20 years old or close to it! I also had an identical navy one but it got purged long ago. For some reason, I held onto this one. I pulled it out the other day to create an outfit inspired by The Essential Capsule Wardrobe: Spring 2017 Collection E-Book.  The ebook styles an olive utility jacket, but I had to make this work appropriate. An olive blazer is a great sub for all those outfits you see with an olive utility jacket if the jacket is too casual for your workplace. It’s amazing how well some pieces hold up.

The top is a knit tee but pretty thick and great quality so it can easily be polished up for the office with a a blazer and pencil skirt. A solid pencil skirt, especially in a dark color like navy, is always a good choice for the office and a good choice for most body shapes. A pencil skirt can be slimming when worn appropriately. Pencil skirts can be dressed up and down according to the tops and layers you choose to wear with them. Shoes also play a part in how dressy or casual a pencil skirt outfit can be.

It’s interesting too how I get stuck on color combos and wear them for nearly a week at a time. Last couple of weeks were all about pink and olive but get prepared to see lots of navy and olive this week and maybe next. I just can’t help myself. Some combination of pinks, blues and greens are what I gravitate to in the spring year after year.
