Fantastic Friday Finds Vol 4: Coastal Grandmother

Happy Friday! I’m back today with another edition of Fantastic Friday Finds. These all have a “coastal grandmother” vibe to them. It’s the hottest new trend.

coastal grandmother clothing and home decorPin

Coastal Grandmother is everywhere. The idea behind this trend is emulating the clothing style and home décor of the affluent older woman who lives at the coast, much like Diane Keaton in Somethings Gotta Give. I haven’t seen the movie but all this buzz has me wanting to watch it.

The clothing style is lots of light and neutral colors, natural fabrics like linen and cotton, button down shirts, wide leg pants, and sun hats, the things this woman would wear to garden. The style transcends to home decor with fresh flowers, lots of white, blue and rattan. “Coastal Grandmother” is also an effortless, natural easy way of living.

Grandmother or not, age aside, the style is a matter of survival for those of us to live at the southern coast. Southern Coastal living has it’s beautiful moments but it’s not always as dreamy as depicted. It can be downright humid and disgusting some days.

And it’s not a NEW trend. It’s another scenario of the millennials and younger generations taking something that has existed for a long time and giving it a new name for notoriety. Call it what you will, I’m not knocking the “trend”. It’s a style I’ve subscribed to for years in home décor and summer clothing.

While searching for some summer tops this week, I came across some pieces at Nordstrom Rack that fit the vibes of “Coastal Grandmother” all too well and wanted to share my finds so this week’s theme is based on all things coastal or “Coastal Grandmother.” (Note: I found way too many cute tops at Nordstrom Rack, so many they wouldn’t even fit in my online cart, lol, and most are less than $25.)

Leilani Crinkled Rayon Gauze Long Sleeve Shirt

Technically rayon doesn’t fit the aesthetics because it’s not a natural material, but it drapes well and breathes well like linen, so it’s also a good choice for keeping cool. The blue stripe partial button up otherwise fits all the vibes. I’d be drawn to this without the new trend.

Dessie Striped Popover

I’m a sucker for a popover. No gaping button to worry about! This short sleeve striped top would be perfect for hot summer days. Comes in five colors choices, and all of them are light and airy with coastal vibes.

Pear Cubic Zirconia Stud Earrings

Summer jewelry is best kept simple but even those that enjoy easy living can enjoy a little sparkle and shine. These are on sale at a steal!

Kelly and Katie Espadrille Wedges

An espadrille always screams summer and the jute is certainly right up the coastal grandmother alley. Add nautical stripes and you’ve got yourself an adorable summer shoe.

Lanzom Wide Brim Panama Hat

One of my favorites. I have it in two colors. It’s adjustable inside for a great fit.

Three Tiered Maxi Skirt

A maxi skirt is a must have and a white one gives all the coastal vibes. This linen blend skirt is very affordable.

Target home decor

Throw these rope balls into a woven grass tray for instant coastal décor. It’s as easy as a trip to your local Target. (Make it easier with curbside pick up.) Grab these jute filler balls too.

Hydrangea arrangement

Don’t forget the fresh flowers. Can’t grow them? Faux will do!

Be sure to check out these beach cover ups. A coastal grandmother would certainly rock a shirt cover up or an elegant kaftan.
