The fall season is upon us. The weather isn’t quite cooperating here but 80 degrees is better than 100, so I’m not complaining. I often hesitate to shop early for fall but this year I went ahead and started adding some fall things to my closet right away.
If I’m prepared as soon as the opportunity presents itself, maybe I’ll get a little more wear out of fall clothing. Today, I’m sharing a fall shopping haul and try on.
This is a random mix of some of my recent orders from Old Navy, Target, JCrew Factory, Gap Factory, Nordstrom and Amazon. For size reference, I’m 5’2″, and currently 162 lbs. I’m all over the place with sizes right now, wearing anything from a 6-10 pants, small to medium tops.

Old Navy Puff-Sleeve Clip-Dot Henley Swing Blouse
A henley design in a long sleeve/ puff sleeve blouse. Relaxed but polished. The material is a bit thick for early fall here, but I plan to wear it to work when the temps drop a little more. The print will add interest to any outfit and the black/cream color scheme will go with anything. I’m wearing a small.
High Waisted Pixie Straight Ankle Pants
Finally- an ankle pant that doesn’t cling to my thick calves. This straight leg cut is perfect for those of us who have struggled with skinny ankle pants that cling to larger calves and legs. Make these part of your fall shopping haul if you have this issue.
Made of a blend of cotton, rayon and spandex, these are great for dressing up or down. I can picture them with heels or sneakers.
I’m wearing them in the color bourbon in a size 10. I sized down to an 8 because they do stretch with wear. The material is on the thicker side, so lumps and bumps show less and you get a smoother fit. I
Faux leather chunky heel loafer
An affordable way to try a trend. These also aren’t too thick or chunky and lean more to being regular loafers but with the lug sole. Wearing a 7.5. I probably could have sized down to a 7 but returned them for a pair from Target.
High Waisted Pixie Flare Pants
I love the flare leg on these pants and the fit in the hips and waist. I think the flare leg makes them a bit more dressy than the straight ankle pixie above. Unfortunately, these clung to the backs of my knees and were too snug in that area in a weird way. If you have slimmer legs, go for it. Wearing a 10 petite, could wear an 8. I still required a heel with the length.
Long-Sleeve Plaid Flannel Boyfriend Tunic Shirt
A plaid shirt is a fall must have and Old Navy has them in a variety of colors. This boyfriend tunic style is a great length for leggings. I’ve paired it with boyfriend jeans from Old Navy (option) from last year and finished this look with lug sole loafers. There are endless ways to wear a plaid shirt so this is a worthwhile investment. Wearing a small.

Paris Platform Loafers/ Target
These platform loafers are a little chunkier and higher than the Old Navy loafers. These are the ones I chose to keep from my fall shopping haul for my fall wardrobe. I like the extra height and they have a comfy memory foam insole.
Splitneck Top Gap Factory
A cotton/rayon blend that’s cool and comfortable but still gives fall vibes with the khaki plaid. I’ll wear this one with shorts on warmer fall days. Three-quarter sleeves provide arm/ upper arm coverage for those who prefer coverage. Wearing a small.
PiePieBuy Ankle Boots
I’m obsessed with white boots. I attempted to find a pair last fall and winter but never settled on any. This season I have two pair in my closet!
This pair features a comfortable stacked heel and flattering v cut sides. I find this style of ankle boot more flattering for thicker calves and legs and for petites because they don’t chop straight across the leg. The 3.5 inch heel is comfortable and easy to walk in due to the block heel design. They come in nine other colors if you aren’t into white but want a flattering pair of ankle boots.
High Rise Girlfriend Utility Khakis
I ordered these in an 8 petite and 8 regular and ended up keeping the 8 regular. Sometimes the cropped ankle pants look a little off and I prefer to have the hem a little longer. The 8 regular was also a better overall fit. If you look closely at the models on the website, they fall at all different lengths on the models, so it’s really just a matte of preference.
These pants are cotton/spandex with just enough stretch. They are a great alternative to jeans when you want to keep it casual.
JCrew Factory Top with Lace Detail
A sweet cotton top with lace trim at the neck and yoke of the top. Button cuff sleeves. You can dress this one up or down. Wearing a small.
Balloon Sleeve Short Sleeve Button Front Top– Target
This adorable top has an eyelet front yoke with lace trim and the material in the remainder of the top is textured. The red color is one of fall 2022’s trending colors and all the details make this the perfect top for days when it’s too warm for layers. There will be nothing plain about an outfit with this top. I paired it with Wit and Wisdom girlfriend jeans and loafers.
Balloon Long Sleeve Embroidered Dress – Target
Add a little boho vibe to your fall wardrobee with this tie-neck embroidered dress. I’m wearing a small but would size up because the chest is tight.
Asos Oversized Double Breasted Blazer
No fall shopping haul would be complete without an oversized blazer. They are on trend this season as well as the bright color. This is not a great shade of yellow for me but the blazer is a great piece for making a statement if it’s your color. This is a linen blend. While I wouldn’t normally wear linen past summer, this color makes this one fall worthy. Wearing a 6.
High Collar Zip Cardigan
Another bright fun piece for fall. The zipper runs all they way up the collar. It’s a sporty looking piece that I’d wear with jeans or joggers. I tried it with jeans, a tank and sneakers. Wearing a 6.
