9 to 5 Style – Trench coats

Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third  Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!

This month’s theme is trench coats. I featured them in my 5 Spring Jackets You Should Consider post. They make a great spring layer for those of you that still need the layers in spring.

For us, it is usually warm in the spring (83 degrees on Sunday as I prepare this post) so I don’t own a trench coat. I do, however, own a sleeveless trench that allows me to have the same vibes without being too warm, so I have styled my sleeveless trench for you. ( If I were to get a regular trench coat, I’m swooning over this gingham trench.)

I’ve styled this sleeveless trench coat a few ways in the past, with both pants and skirts. One way that I had yet to wear this was with a bold stripe. I had almost decided to get rid of this piece because it doesn’t get as much wear as I think it should, but this outfit has renewed my interest in this piece. I love the light khaki against the navy and with the bold stripes, so maybe I will be trying this with every striped top I own, lol. This would certainly look chic with a black stripe top and black pants and a red heel or shoe.

Be sure to check out Jennie’s fabulous look!
