Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!
Summer will officially be here this Friday, and close behind the Fourth of July, so I chose a red, white and blue theme for this month’s 9 to 5 style. It really only takes the summer season to make me want to wear a good red, white and blue mix. It’s a classic color palette you can wear year round, but it looks especially appropriate in the summer.

There’s no reason why you can’t wear your work wear in this scheme. A navy blazer pairs wonderfully with red bottoms, or vice versa, but I really like the unexpected pop of having the red on the bottom.

I’ve had this pinstripe blazer for several years. The inside lining is red polka dots and it makes it really fun to cuff the sleeves and let the red dots show.
I have been looking for a work appropriate red earring and I finally stumbled on these flower studs on Amazon. Perfect. Small enough to still be professional, yet allows a little more color into work attire.

If you don’t have a classic white blouse in your closet, get one now. I’m not going to tell you that you must have the classic white button up, but a white blouse, especially a sleeveless one for summer, will make office dressing a breeze. I reach for this blouse quite a bit more than I reach for my button up. It makes for an easy outfit with a blazer or a cardigan.
Hope you have a great week.
