Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!
Summer is quickly approaching on the calendar. While you can certainly wear white year round, white garments and all white outfits are a great way to embrace summer. For this reason, I chose white as the theme for this month’s 9 to 5 Style series.

An all white outfit exudes freshness and coolness, feelings we are seeking when the summer heat cranks up. Many of you are intimidated by white pants and jeans, so an all white outfit might cause even more anxiety.
It doesn’t have to. All white can be easy to wear and choosing the right pieces doesn’t have to be a difficult task.
When I was growing up my friends and I would always ask “Do these whites match? Do my blacks match?” Friends, we are now beyond matching. Everything doesn’t have to “match.” It needs to coordinate and be pleasing to the eye.
“Matching” whites is a difficult task. Some whites are bright white and some are more ivory or cream. When creating an all white outfit, throw in some textures and the exact match of the colors will become less important.
My “white” blazer from Loft is not a bright white compared to my pants but it’s a linen blend and mixing the linen with the lace top makes the slight shade difference more acceptable and purposeful. Don’t be afraid to mix different separates in whites or creams to create a neutral summer outfit.
While you can certainly add some color with accessories, I chose to keep the look neutral with simple gold accessories and nude pumps.
