Happy Monday, friends! Today is a happy Monday because it’s the Monday to a week that ends with 9 days off work! I have never taken the entire week of Christmas off and this year I am! I’m so excited.
Are you getting your Christmas prep “wrapped up?” Are you ready to put a bow on it? This Monday is also the monthly 9 to 5 style feature I do with Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots, and this month I chose the theme of “put a bow on it.”Bows go with the season, right?
Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style! We were each free to put whatever spin we wanted on this theme. There are several ways to incorporate bows into your work wear in a mature manner- tie neck/ bow tops, bows on belts, earrings, necklaces, shoes, bow tie waist skirts or pants, or bow prints.
I chose to style this bow print sweater from Loft. It’s several years old and it’s been on the blog multiple times, but I still like it and I like wearing it this time of year.
This time I’m styling it two ways and incorporating bow pumps into the outfits.
First I styled it with grey ankle pants- another favorite piece from Loft and my new houndstooth print pumps from Ann Taylor that have a black bow on the toe of them. It’s a simple outfit but the printed pumps add a little something to keep it from being plain.
Sweater- Loft/old- option; option option pants- Loft/ old- option; shoes- Ann Taylor; earrings- Kendra Scott
Next I paired this sweater with a black pencil skirt and wine colored bow pumps. I tucked in the sweater this time. (Sometimes I forget sweaters can be tucked, but it does change things up a bit.) Another simple outfit, but the pop of color with the pumps keep it from being boring.
skirt- Worthington; pumps- Rockport via Nordstrom; clutch- Forever 21/ old- option option

What do you think of bows? Childish, or do you incorporate them into your work wear?
