‘Tis the season for parties, family gatherings, special events, food, fun and so much more. And all of these events call for special outfits. I’ve always loved dressing for the Christmas and for the holidays, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that holiday outfits don’t necessarily require special purchases.
It’s more than doable to create holiday outfits from your closet without having to purchase all new pieces. Strategically purchase a piece or two or some accessories that can give your everyday pieces a festive feel. Here are seven holiday outfit ideas from basic pieces you can keep wearing for the rest of the winter.
A fun party, lunch or brunch holiday outfit
This mini sweater dress from Old Navy is the perfect base for creating a festive holiday outfit. It’s loose fitting and leaves plenty of room for treats and desserts. Add a plaid scarf, some sparkly earrings and a sparkly beanie and you are set. If your climate is colder, add tights.

Top this midi turtleneck sweater dress with a blazer and your totally work appropriate. It’s also a nice option for holiday church services. I’m wearing it in the petite option. It has a defined waist and side splits but it’s still modest enough for work or church.
This outfit would also be appropriate for your work holiday events or church services. An elevated basic like this grey pointelle sweater with ruffle sleeves paired with bright red bottoms is a great holiday outfit idea. You can continue to wear each piece seperately throughout the winter once the holidays are over.
