Coming at you with an Old Navy try on session. I popped in the store a week or so ago and I have done some recent online orders. Many of my summer pieces need updating or replacing. Most of my shorts are too big since I went down a size thanks to sticking with FWTFL. I have been shopping around and I’m sharing my thoughts and finds on some cute summer pieces from Old Navy.
I also did an order and purchase a couple of months ago and the pieces I bought then will carry forward from spring to summer so I’m going to share those as well.
My stats for size reference: I’m 5’2, 36 inch bust, 31.5 inch waist, 40.5 inch hips. I wear mostly small and size 4-6 bottoms.
I bought this jumpsuit before Easter but I’m going to enjoy wearing it just as much in the summer. They have the same style in some other options that are great for summer too. The square neck cami style top will make it great for summer but if you are not into bearing your shoulders, a cardigan or denim jacket will still be tolerable with it. I find it to be petite friendly. I’m wearing a small.
Wide leg linen pants- I love these so much I bought them in this olive (hunter pines) color and the chambray blue. Both colors are super versatile and go with everything. These are my go to pants when I don’t want to wear shorts and can be dressed up or down. Wearing them in small petite. The petite length lets me wear them with flats but I could wear the regular length with a wedge.
Poplin jogger cargo pants– Another option for those that don’t wear shorts. I’m wearing a small. They do not have much stretch, but the light color is a fun take on joggers. This color is called wish bone.
3 Ways to wear them:
I’ve had a similar version of these shorts in olive for several years, and now I have them in black and flax. They are so comfy. The 4 inch inseam sometimes is a little short to me at times, but in these it’s okay. The leg opening of these shorts is looser. If it were fitted, I probably would not like the length. I’d prefer a 5 inch inseam, but since I now have three pairs of these, you know I like them. This version says high waisted, but I don’t really find them to be high waisted. Since they are an elastic band pull on, they fit well at my natural waist. I’m wearing a small. I’m wearing them with a linen tee from Banana Republic, I find it a bit too boxy and will be returning the tee. I’m a little too short for it to drape the same way it does on taller women with a longer torso. It comes in petites, so maybe I should have tried the petite size.
The same shorts in flax (color). I’m wearing this with a cotton tee from Banana Republic. Wearing the tee in a regular small.
They aren’t too high waisted and they hold everything in. I’m wearing the shorts in a 4. The shirt had potential but I returned it because the sleeves were so snug I could barely roll them up. It might just be this one shirt, so it would still be worth giving it a try.
This top has a tie-back feature. The shorts are the same as above, just a different color.
Luxe star print tank– I love the luxe tees and tanks from Old Navy. They are so soft and silky and drape nicely. I could not resist this tank in a star print.
Seriously, what was I thinking? This is a fun stripe with great colors, but a 3.5 inseam is not really my top pick. I have loved these shorts before in a mid rise, but these didn’t fit well. A 4 is too snug (the rear view was not a pretty picture) and a 6 is too loose in the stomach area. I’m wearing the 6 for the pic and it looks okay, but it really doesn’t fit or move well on me. I’m waiting on these 5 inch inseam mid rise striped shorts to arrive. I’m hoping these are as good as I remember from years past.
I wanted to love this especially since it was on clearance in my store, but it’s just too boxy for me. Wearing a small. Another reviewer online said to size down, and I’d recommend the same.
I tried this on for kicks and giggles. The plaid in summer colors is really cute but the top is out of my comfort zone. Swing tops of any kind are usually out of my comfort zone because they look like maternity tops on my short torso. But you never know. Sometimes you try something out of your comfort zone and fall in love with it. So, I’ll keep trying a few things here and there, even if it’s just to share with you.
I love this square neck halter style top and the material is cool and comfy. This is a small and it’s a bit big in the body so sizing down might be necessary. I can’t find the top online yet, but I’ll come back and link if it shows up. Likewise, this color of shorts isn’t online, but a red and a black/grey/white stripe is available. I tried these in an 8 because that was all that was in the store at the time, but I have the black/grey stripe coming in a 6. This paper bag, tie waist feature is super popular right now.
This dress comes in this yellow and a blue. Both have a tiny white stripe. It’s lacking pockets, but still cute. Wearing a small.
