We all have a good concept of basics, right? A white tee, a black tee, a great pair of jeans, a pair of denim shorts, etc. Basics can look a little different for each lifestyle, but they are those building block pieces of our wardrobe.
But what about summer time? It’s hot so building and layering an outfit doesn’t seem to appealing. A white tee and a pair of shorts will certainly work, but what if you want to take it up just a notch?
Enter the elevated basis, or novelty basic as Bridgett Raes calls them. These are your basics that add a little more texture or interest to an outfit on their own.
A white blouse or white tee is always a recommended basic piece for a wardrobe. White will forever go with everything. I also encourage you to add an elevated white blouse, or novelty basic in white. The pom pom trim and square neck serve to make this piece an elevated basic. Otherwise, a white top and navy shorts can be pretty plain.
Mixing in a few trends and details help to take a basic summer outfit up a notch too. The leopard sandals and straw tote with a scarf tied to the handle add some more interest. Tying a scarf to your purse handle is a great way to add some color and style to any outfit.
