Happy Friday! I’m dragging a bit in getting this post up. I’ve been dragging a lot lately in getting posts up! If you subscribe to my feed, then you’ve realized the posts are not coming to you on Monday, Wednesday and Friday as usual. If I miss the time the feed runs to send you the email, then you get the post the next day. Now that I’m teleworking and spending 8 hours per day on a computer, I just can’t stand much more of the computer after that and blogging is suffering because of it. There isn’t even a drive home to break up being on the computer at work and coming home to blog. Most of my normal work days were broken up into office, court and field. Right now it’s all home office and virtual contacts and by 5 p.m daily, I’m sick of computers, phones and virtual anything so all social media has lost its appeal. When it’s time to shut down the work computer, I want to be up moving and doing other things around the house.
I’m also developing a tendency towards nesting now that I’m home all the time and looking at all this stuff. But I’m not complaining. I actually enjoy not being pressured to be somewhere, go somewhere. I’m enjoying putting time and effort into my home again. On that note, I’m sharing seven of my favorite home decor items.

But first- (or second, or third, where are we now?) While we have been quarantined, the hubby finished Bella’s kennel end table. Total win for both of us! No more ugly plastic or wire dog crates in my living room, and Bella has a quieter, padded, more comfortable home at home.

This pretty much completes our living room redo. The one that has been going on for almost a year now- we bought new furniture last Memorial Day. I need to swap out pictures and mats in a corner easel frame (it has red mats and now the accent colors are blue) and we need to HANG PICTURES ON THE WALL! I might have to call it good with swapping the mats because photos/wall art have been an ongoing discussion for 13.5 years.
For now Bella and I will enjoy this new kennel. My husband designed it to coordinate with the barnwood style of the coffee table. He painted and stained it to match the existing decor. Not a perfect match, but it works well and I’m super proud of this project.

Home decor doesn’t have to be expensive. My favorite things to decorate with are inexpensive items that add texture, color, and interest to a home. I swap things out seasonally or for holidays. Most of the things I have out right now are for spring.
1 Birdcages Decorative birdcages are fun to place on coffee tables, end tables or mantels. I have one inside a tray on the coffee table and one on the hearth. I’ve filled the one on the hearth with decorative balls.

2 Trays Trays make excellent bases for building vignettes for coffee tables.

I’ve filled this one with books, a candle, a birdcage and a vase of faux flowers. The vase is a clear cylinder vase wrapped in burlap with a vintage brooch adorning it- a very easy diy.
3 Faux flowers and greenery- If you have a green thumb, go for the live stuff. I don’t so I use faux arrangements. I like to stick them in pretty planters and vases. I found the one below at the thrift store.

4 Baskets– Woven baskets provide some texture and storage. I’ve placed blankets in one and the remotes in a tiny one at the end of the couch.

5 Hurricane vases Fill these with decorative filler for seasonal or holiday decor. I keep this one out year round filled with sand and shells.

6- Decorative filler – Things like orbs, decorative balls, shells, pebbles etc. Place them in a pretty vase or bowl. It’s a great way to bring in some natural elements.

7 Tiered trays– Let’s not forget tiered trays. They make great counter top decor and centerpieces for holidays and more.
