Amazon- I’m beginning to have a love/ hate relationship with them. I’m happy to see them in the fashion realm, but you really have to dig deep for some of the good stuff worth wearing.
I’ve had several incidents with them where I’ve returned things, they mark it returned and then a few weeks later send me the “we are going to bill you for this because we didn’t receive it” email. WHAT? The heck you say. I promptly and furiously get on chat with a customer service rep and point out where they have marked it received. Or send them tracking info, or whatever and this is beginning to be pain because I have limited time and I DON’T have time for their mistakes. Or money to pay for things I returned. So watch your Amazon returns close.
And with that warning, let me share all the good and not so good stuff I tried out recently.
First the business stuff. This post contains affiliate links. I make a small commission from your purchases through these links. I appreciate your support. Also, please shop from your web browser and not the app because I don’t get any credit and have no idea what caught your eye if your shop an app. Thanks for understanding.
For size reference, I’m 5’2″ and weigh 155 pounds (yikes). Oh well, it’s just a number. My general size in most things is 6 or 8. I find that I size up a lot more for Amazon fashion finds.
Dresses for work and play
Lark and Ro Sleeveless V-Neck dress size medium. It’s described as sleeveless but as you can see it provides ample coverage. If dresses were more practical for my work wear, I’d have kept this. It’s ployester/elastane. I know polyester turns off some folks but this one felt good with just enough stretch. Comes in solid black too if you need a LBD and want a modest one. Shoes pictured- 1STATE block heel pump
Lark and Ro printed Georgette Dress – wearing a 6. The sleeves on this one are so fun and flirty but it’s still a very work appropriate dress. Wear it after hours with some fun sandals.
28 Palms Halter Maxi Dress Wearing a medium but the top is too big. This dress is gorgeous! And the material and workmanship appear to be better quality than some of the other things on Amazon.
Check out the back
28 Palms sleeveless shift dress– only $20 and comes in other colors and prints. It felt so good and cool on. I really wanted to keep this one but I already have dresses I don’t wear and couldn’t come up with any justification for the rest of the summer. Wearing a small.
Amazon Essentials Scoop Neck Swing Dress– I did keep this one! Wearing a medium. So comfy I could sleep in it. Wear into fall with a denim or utility jacket and boots.
Milumia Button Up Dress- I’ve been seeing this one all over instagram. I wanted to keep it, but I wanted a different print which I also ordered. The other one arrived with a large tag in it (and was supposed to be medium) but was so short it didn’t pass for a long shirt! I think someone washed it, shrunk it and returned it. And Amazon tried to pass it on to me. No thanks. Comes in lots of colors and prints.
Jumpsuits and Rompers
You can see the jumpsuits I kept in this post.
Angashion Button Front Jumpsuit – Wearing a medium. It was a little snug in some places and just not a great fit for me overall, but super cute! Worth a try if you are more rectangle shape and not so curvy.
Cosygal Striped Linen Jumpsuit I’m wearing this one in a large. Really cute but it didn’t just fit quite right on me.
Anrabess short sleeve romper Wearing this in a medium. I like that the top isn’t a tank top but I can’t seem to find a good fit for the bottoms. The inseams aren’t a good fit for me on almost all of the rompers I’ve tried so I’m officially giving up on rompers from Amazon. I think I need to try a dedicated petite size.
Wrap top romper– Medium Same analysis as above.
Tops for Wearing Now and Later
Amazon Essentials Classic Fit Long Sleeve Poplin Shirt- Great price point for a nice shirt for work or play. I’m wearing the blue stripe in medium. A medium fit better with no gaping in the bust but of course it’s bigger in the body. Sleeves are long for petites but I always roll sleeves so it’s not a deal breaker. Comes in lots of colors. A great back to school or work item.
Amazon Essentials Classic Fit Long Sleeve shirt– Comes in gingham too! A must have for fall. I purchased it in the small. I will likely repurchase in medium for fall. It’s on my wish list.
Amazon Essentials Long Sleeve Cotton Popover- Who loves a popover? Me (raises hand and jumps up and down)! I know some don’t like this style of shirt but if you do these are worth checking out. This one was not quite as relaxed and soft as JCrew/JCrew Factory popovers but worth checking out. I would think it would soften in the wash. I’m wearing a small. Comes in lots of colors and prints. Check out the navy plaid for fall.
Daily Ritual Cozy Knit Boat Neck top So soft I could live in this. I ordered a medium and could wear a small. If it says “cozy” or “terry” in the Daily Ritual brand, buy it. Buy everything in that description because it truly is that soft and cozy. I’ll be revisiting this line for fall and winter.
Amazon Essential Polo- I’m throwing this in just in case you like or need this style of shirt. I don’t like this style from a fashion sense but it’s what I wear when I wear field attire to work. I usually buy this style of shirt from Belk and get a good deal, but I decided to give this one a try. The shoulders didn’t fit/drape quite right for me although you can’t really see it in the pic. I’m wearing a medium, maybe a small would fit better and keep that bit of fabric from bubbling up in the shoulders. Otherwise, it was relatively comfortable.
Pajamas: Clothes for Wearing at Home
I’m seriously lacking in the pajama department, especially for warmer months. Last month I ordered several sets from Amazon that I’ve been eyeing. A couple didn’t even make the pics but here my favorites from the orders.
bSoft Women’s Pajama Set– Wearing a medium. This one was truly soft, silky and cool feeling. I wanted to keep it but they used those plastic pins to secure the top to a cardboard backer and the pins left marks on the top. Nope, not going to accept something damaged. But for kicks and giggles I might reorder one day and see if I get a pair without marks.
Hotouch pajama set- Where do they come up with these names? Wearing a medium. I liked these too but the legs were a tad snug in the thighs for comfort and I would probably size up to a large in these if I reorder.
Femofit 2 pack pajama shorts- These were the keepers. I sized up to x-large but could easily wear the large in these. I kept them so I can throw them in the dryer and not work about shrinking. I am loving these, love the pockets. You can find me in these most every evening after work.
Comfort Colors Ultra Soft Tanks I made my own pajama sets by pairing these tops with the pajama shorts. I’m wearing a large but could size down to medium or small. The tops have faded some in the wash but for the price I guess it’s expected.
Enjoynight Pajama Set Wearing a large. I also kept these. They are comfy for sleep and lounge wear. My hubby said they looked like a matching outfit for wearing out of the house ?! Men and their fashion sense. I would not wear these in public but they are great for around the house. I’m watching a couple of other prints and may order some more.
Amazon essentials Classic Fit v-neck tee and Amazon essentials mid-rise capri legging I’ve seen lots of recommendations for these tees but it wasn’t as soft as I like mine and too clingy. I’m wearing a medium. I like working out and running in capri leggings almost as much as shorts now and was looking to add a pair but I ordered the leggings in a large and they are way too big in the waist. This combo is currently sold out so I’m watching these too.
Whew! If you are still here, thanks for sticking to the end. I hope you find some good stuff or at least some helpful info here.
