Happy Friday! I’m kicking off what I’m calling my birthday weekend. My birthday isn’t until Tuesday, but why not make it a long weekend celebration? And why not treat myself to some new shoes?
1-I love how boot cut jeans and wedges make my legs look long and slim! I wore this to Bible study Tuesday night. Yes, I wear jeans in the summer because it’s so cold in the AC.

Top- Nordstrom; option jeans- Levis; wedges- old; option earrings- old; option option bracelets- DIY; necklace- Kendra Scott
2-Thank goodness for jeans that make you look slim, because salted caramel ice cream from Publix is an equal favorite. I made a gluten free apple cobbler in the crock pot Sunday and topped it with this yummy ice cream. Apples and salted caramel?! oh yeah!

3-So far my favorite purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale are shoes (and honestly, my new undies and bras, but even the bras disappoint a bit because the color is weird to me. Why can’t we have a good old fashioned nude color on sale?) It’s always all about the shoes anyway, ha.
I ordered these 1STATE pumps and they feel pretty good. I don’t have a block heel pump for work and block heels are usually more comfortable to me, so these shoes will be worth the purchase. Grab these in any color if they are still in your size.

I’ve looked for a pair of black peep toe sling back booties every year for about three years now. I’ve ordered a pair during each Nsale and returned them because I found them to be too high of a heel or too high up the front of my ankle, etc etc. I tried again this year and these Cole Hann booties feel amazing straight out of the box. This is still a splurge for me at the sale price so I’m going to try them on with a few outfits to make sure I really like them but they feel so good on!

I’m going to share a few more things that arrived this week, but I have to be honest and say I’m not super impressed.
I tried to focus on work wear because I know I will wear those pieces more often but my picks disappoint.

A lot of bloggers are raving about these Wit and Wisdom pants but I found them to be just plain weird. They are a pull on pant in a silky feeling material. I was between sizes with a 6 pulling at the pockets and 8 feeling like it was going to slide right off after a little wear. The waist didn’t feel right in either pair and there is no way in Hades that little belt with stay closed and in place all day. It’s sewn into the sides so you can’t remove it! I tried them in this color and the color pictured above. These pants just flat out irritated me.
The leopard tee pictured is an Amazon find and it could be a keeper but they cut this one from a piece of material that was fused together and there is a very noticeable line across the shirt. You can probably see it now that I’ve pointed it out. Amazon is fun but there are so many “losers” on there too.
The NYDJ plaid slim trousers are better in my book but I felt like they were a little too snug for me to wear to work. I don’t find tight pants to be a professional look, and these don’t have belt loops. Belt loops are a must for the majority of my work wear, so I will be sending these back .

Wit and Wisdom redeem themselves with these camo jeans. I’m still going to do a wear test around the house with the two sizes I ordered to determine the best fit after wear and stretch but these feel pretty good in 6p. The material is a nice weight and this might be a fun way to jump on the camo bandwagon in the fall.

The side zip detail:

These Earth booties/sandals are a great option too if you want a low heel shoe with some edge. They feel great on but I decided they were not keepers because they cut straight across my stubby legs. The 2 inch heel is super stable and comfy so if that’s not an issue for you, add to cart!
My super soft and comfy shirt was an Amazon Prime Day purchase. I ordered a medium but could wear a small. It’s so soft it would be worth the purchase at full price.

Have a great weekend.
