Every May I usually start shopping for summer items. Summer does not wait for the calendar here. It is full on summer in May here. We had temps in the high 90s most of May. So my shopping focus has been for all things summer.
Here are my Amazon purchases in May. I think I now work solely to pay Amazon. That place has become so addictive.

This post contains affiliate links. I make a small commission from your purchases through these links. Thanks for your support.
1- Floral earrings– I’m sure I’ll enjoy these year round, but my summer wardrobe will have a lot of red. I also wanted a small red earring to wear to work. I generally don’t wear large statement earrings to work, but I’m not afraid to wear color. These smaller earrings will work well for the office.
2, 3 and 4- Kimonos– I have become kimono obsessed. I ordered the green one and shared it in my Amazon try on session last month. Then I decided I needed a light colored kimono (I had darker colors so far) and ordered this one from the same brand and I ordered this one with the bigger print from another brand. I’ve also got my eye on the yellow pineapple print from either brand. These kimonos are all light and sheer and the perfect layer for our hot summers. All of these are also the perfect link for petites like me. I don’t feel like I’m drowning in them.
5 Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer– I use this stuff daily right out of the shower to develop and maintain a glow. It helps extend the life of my self-tanner. I could pick this up at Target or the drug store but it’s at a comparable price on Amazon with FREE PRIME SHIPPING. Why waste time at the store?
6-Rattan earrings– Wicker and rattan earrings are so trendy this summer. These are currently my favorite pair of earrings. Too bad I can’t wear them to the office but you can be I’m sporting them most weekends and evenings.
7-Lanzom Wide Brim Straw Hat– I love that it’s adjustable on the inside for a better fit. It is a wide brim but not too wide. It comes in lots of colors and you can’t beat the price for a hat. I in no way need another hat, but I didn’t have a blue one. How is that for justification?
8-Sleeveless good vibes tank– This is another one of those really soft pieces I want to wear everyday. Lots of options and colors for this good vibes graphic tee all over Amazon but I like the tie front feature on this one.
9-Honest Deep Hydrating Eye Cream- I have an allergic reaction to my moisturizers and cleansers, or at least that’s what I’ve narrowed it down to, that manifests mostly on my eyelids and under my eyes. It had me skipping eye cream too. It was driving me crazy because I have lots of under eye wrinkles and need lots of moisturizer to keep them plumped and at bay. The allergy issue put me on the search for a clean eye cream and I gave this a try. It does a decent job but it’s not my favorite either. Worth a try if you are searching for a cleaner product.
10-Tshirt dress- Super comfy and IT HAS POCKETS! It is also currently a favorite.
11-Auline vneck floral romper-Imagine my surprise that a one size fits all romper actually fit. I would not recommend it for anyone over size 10, but it’s a nice little romper. A little thin but I don’t think that’s going to be an issue.
12-Amazon Essentials Drawstring Linen Shorts– A 5 inch inseam is my sweet spot for shorts and these come in tons of cute colors and prints. Pull on elastic waist and pockets! Need I say more. These are super comfy for lounging at home, the pool, beach or any of your summer activities.
13-Bliss Poetic Waxing System This may be TMI, but I have terrible problems with razor burn and rash when I shave the bikini area. I have to go through a meticulous regime to have any hope that I can shave and not be embarrassed to wear a bathing suit. I decided I would try at home waxing. Game changer! There is a learning curve to this, but no rash, bumps, and no need to shave every three days. I’ll let you know later how often I end up having to wax, but it’s been about 10 days and the bikini line is smooth and hair free.
14-Vitamin E oil 100% Natural and Organic- This is actually my second purchase of this product. I have been experiencing allergic reactions to skincare products. Between last month and this month I stopped using all of my current moisturizers, but still needed something. This is doing a great job of keeping my skin soft and moisturized without added junk that is causing reactions.
You can see all of the clothing items on me and more in my Amazon try on post.
Other Amazon purchases for the month ‘cause I do buy more practical things than just fashion items.
Parchment paper baking cups– These are great for baking with almond flour and other gluten free flours. Nothing sticks.
Kitchen cabinet pot organizer–
My kitchen cabinet has never looked so good, all thanks to this one little rack. If I could fit more of these in my cabinet, I would buy more.
Our old coffee maker leaked water out the back. It still made coffee but each day we would find it sitting in a puddle of water in the back. Since electricity and water don’t mix, we finally decided to replace it. My first attempt at a replacement from Walmart resulted in me receiving a coffee maker with a pot that had a bright red arrow marking a defect/chip in the glass on the pot. Thanks Walmart for marking it, but how about not sending me that damaged item in the first place? I was so over the coffee pot issue because I had been putting it off, I hopped on Amazon the same night and ordered this one. We now enjoy our morning coffee and a dry countertop.
Other May purchases.

My summer additions look a little red. I have a love/ hate relationship with red. I once got rid of all my red tops, but as you can see, I have red tops again as the color red and I are getting along right now. I do love a red, white and blue color scheme for summer. If you purchased the GYPO Summer capsule, you may recognize some of these pieces as capsule pieces. These are what I purchased to create my versions of the outfits, and a few things I purchased before the capsule even came out.
1 JCrew Factory embroidered top– Sometimes sizing can be a little crazy for me at JCrew Factory, but I wear this one in a small.
2- JCrew Factory textured vneck tie front shirt I’ll call this true to size because I got a small
3 Raw edge denim mini skirt– I was afraid this would be too short but as a petite person, it works pretty well for me and is still a modest length. I’m usually between a 6 and 8 in JCrew skirts, but this one worked in the 6.
4 Featherweight slub cotton tank– I also got this in a small. It’s a much more relaxed and roomy fit than the cami top, which I tried in a medium and large and decide neither worked. I can’t stand a tank that’s too long and wrinkles and rolls creating more rolls than I really have. No thank you!
5 5 inch inseam printed shorts- I ordered these in an 8 and they fit! I was surprised because I have issues with this style of shorts and usually do size up from 6 to 8.
6- Banana Republic ponte striped wide leg jumpsuit– I finally got on the jumpsuit bandwagon. I ordered this in the petite and it still almost comes to my ankles but I like it and I’m going with it. I got this during the Memorial Day sales and with rewards, so I got it for about $10.
7- Steve Madden Tammey Fisherman sandals
8- Topshop snakeskin slide The description clearly says beige, but I paid that no attention. They looked gray to me. I prefer grey snakeskin but these are brown. I was a little disappointed when they arrived. I think I am still going to keep them. I’m pretty sure they will grow on me. I don’t do rubber flips flops (those are for community showers and the pool or beach ladies) but I love stylish sandals that I can slide my feet into and go for the summer.
10-Universal threads shorts– I still have the tags on these and I may return them. I showed the olive version in my try on session. I’m not 100% in love with the fit and wear of these after wearing them around the house a bit, so I’m still looking for a pair of mustard yellow shorts (cause I may as well go for a Ronald McDonald theme for the summer too with all of that red up there, just kidding).
11-Levis Denizen shorts- You can’t have too many denim shorts. At least I can’t because every time I want to wear them, they are dirty and in the laundry. These are also from my Target try on session. I went back and got them when they were on sale. (They may still be on sale.)
Whew! That’s a lot of stuff. I’ll have to take a break from shopping/spending in June and enjoy wearing these things. Have you been shopping for summer?
