It’s my favorite day of the week and one of my favorite posts and link ups to read on other blogs- Friday Favorites! I’m sharing some of my favorite summer pieces today.
1-Whew! It’s been a short work week, but still a long one. We spent the Memorial Day weekend and holiday picking out new living room furniture. FINALLY! I finally made some decisions. Truth is, I like what I have and I’m not really into getting new furniture often, just changing accent pieces now and again, but our couch is busted (12 years old) and the hubby decided he wanted a recliner. Our couch wasn’t worth recovering, so we decided to buy new. I decided on a couch with a chaise end because I don’t really care for recliners. The chaise end will be my new relaxing/ reading spot. There are USB ports hidden in the arm, ha! I may become permanently affixed there since I can keep my Ipad charged at all times. I am also getting a rocker/glider chair and we are doing away with having a loveseat in leui of the larger couch and two chairs (recliner and rocker/glider chair). We special ordered and picked out fabrics, so it will be another three weeks or so before we get the furniture and it all comes together. Then, we will likely be getting new end/side tables and changing up the lamps and some other décor. Decision, decisions. One step at time, right?

2 Outfits lately – You can bet I spent the weekend and holiday in comfortable clothing for all that couch shopping and sitting and testing. One of my favorite summer pieces is a kimono. I got this one in my last Amazon haul. When I got dressed, I was thinking the base of the kimono was navy, not black, so I wore a navy tee. When I got outside I realized the kimono is black. Duh. Good thing we did away with rules about not mixing blue and black.

Kimono- Amazon; tee- option; option; shorts- Target; sandals- DSW; earrings- Amazon
Another one of my favorite summer pieces is pull on drawstring shorts. Old Navy has these shorts again this year, and I showed some similar ones in the Amazon haul this week.

3- Need some help with summer work wear? We have those days when it’s too hot to get dressed, much less wear dress clothes. GYPO Summer Work Wear capsule to the rescue. You get a capsule of 20 outfits planned out for you. Get your copy here. There’s also a casual GYPO Summer 2019 capsule for all of your away from work activities.

4 Favorite product- I use this thing year round, but it becomes especially important during the summer when I want to bare my feet in sandals. I love this electronic file. So much better than a manual foot file or pumice stone.
5 Favorite books of the month- I will do another full book review of my monthly reads in another post, but I have two favorites for the month. Both are free with a Kindle subscription or available in paperback or hardback. I read and listened to both. Both have great narrators for the audible versions.
Where the Forest Meets the Stars was way better than I thought it was going to be based on the first few chapters. A little girl pretending to be an alien and bugging a stranger was cute, but not really what I wanted to read an entire book about. Then it became clear that there was a lot more going on, and I got hooked into wanting to know what happened and enjoyed the antics and details of Jo, Ursa and Egg Man along the way too. This is a debut book for the author, but I hope there is more coming.
My next favorite read for the month was The Overdue Life of Amy Byler. Heartwarming and hilarious all at the same time. There is a scene where the 15 year old daughter is putting together outfits for the mom’s trip and then a complete makeover by the mom’s friend during her trip, so all fashionistas will be amused and entertained and can relate. I think I smiled all the way through most of this book. It’s a great summer beach/pool read.
