Friday Favorites: favorite travel pieces

Hey! Hey! Happy Friday! I spent last week traveling to and from New Orleans for work and I took and wore some of my favorite pieces that make for comfortable travels and easy airport navigation. I thought I’d share my favorite travel pieces this week.

But first, let me share my Valentine’s trays. My trays are from Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. I decorated them over the weekend and finished them up Tuesday evening because I needed to pick up a few more things to make them complete. Styling a tiered tray can be a bit like solving or putting together a puzzle. Some things fit and some don’t.

I left a few things in place from the last arrangement, like the hello dish, faux plant and bottle trees. No need to reinvent the wheel completely. The felt hearts, teddy bear, heart picks, mug and the mailboxes were all from my existing stash. The pom pom garland is an old DIY I did years ago. The “love” tag and block on the second tier are new from Michael’s and Target. The towel is a TJMaxx find.

The top of this one is filled with a few new things from Michael’s. I will reuse the truck for spring.

What I took to New Orleans

I had three days of training so dress was business casual and I took a couple of pairs of jeans for the evenings and dinner. We did a lot of walking around the French Quarters. The temps were 40-60 degrees and it was wet and damp the whole time even though it didn’t rain until we left on Friday.

I took two of my favorite sweaters– the JCrew Factory Teddy sweaters. I took the camel one above and a bright pink one. I wore them both for class and afterwards. I wore the camel sweater and black jeans above home on Friday with my favorite sneakers. The outfit above is my attempt to dress it up a bit for dinner once I got home, but I was so tired I ended up putting my sneakers back on. All of these pieces made for a comfy but put together day of airport hopping. Those jeans are so soft and stretchy. I may as well have been wearing pajamas or leggings.

I don’t like heavy layers or jackets, and coats take up way too much room in suitcase, but I knew it might be cold out and about as well in the training room. Classrooms are always cold. I took my favorite solution – Cuddle Duds tops.

For a jacket, I took my Amazon Essentials packable puffer. It’s lightweight but warm. It’s now only available in limited sizes but they have a hooded version.
