I’m willing to be that if you’ve taken a good look around anywhere, you can easily guess the most popular completer piece. It’s a vest, and in particular, a puffer or quilted vest. I see ladies from 9 to 90 wearing these everywhere. And I chuckle to myself when I see 70+ year olds wearing them. I’m not saying they can’t or shouldn’t, it’s just funny to me to see an item be so popular with ladies of such a wide age range. However, there is usually a notable difference in the other pieces a 70+ year old pairs her vest with as compared to other age groups.

Plaid shirt- Old Navy
I paired my vest with a plaid flannel, skinny jeans, and riding boots. Typical, classic blogger outfit. Can we get any more predictable? But ladies, it works, so why reinvent the wheel? Vests make great completer pieces. If you live in a mild climate, it’s usually all you need. If you live in a colder climate, you can usually still wear a coat over it.
I accessorized this outfit with a pop of mustard in this chunky scarf. I’ve been on a self imposed challenge since Thanksgiving to wear things that are rarely worn. This scarf is one of those pieces. Temperatures kept me from wearing it much the past couple of years, but when I pulled it back out for the first time this year, the first wearing did not go so well. It was rather bulky and uncomfortable, and I considered getting rid of it. This time I took a little more time to adjust it and make sure I pulled most of the bulk to the front instead of letting it sit in the back on my neck. It felt much better and it’s such a great pop of color, so I’m going to hang on to it a little while longer.
This plaid shirt is a recent purchase from Old Navy. It’s super soft and comfy. You may have seen it on instagram, and it’s been very popular with a number of bloggers. There are tons of ways to wear it. A green cardigan would make the perfect pairing for Christmas.
