Tomorrow is the first day of fall. With temps in the 90s this week, I’m not sure Mother Nature got the message, at least not here in the South. The
warm hot fall temps we have make it super important that I have the right pieces for transitioning to fall. I kind of have to “fake it ’til I make it.” Whether you are like me or you have the ideal fall temps, there is one most important piece for fall transitioning. Read on to find out which one it is.

The denim skirt is the most important piece for fall transitioning. It as a great summer outfit maker, but it can be worn with cozy cardigans and snuggly sweaters in the fall. It can be worn with layers and jackets for creative outfits. As the temps get colder, add some tall boots. Jo-Lynne, Suzanne and Kay all recently blogged about transitioning a denim skirt to fall. You can even dress up your denim skirt with a blazer. A denim skirt is a resourceful piece.
I’m making a very slow transition here just by adding a fall color. My kimono has a rich burgundy color in it, so I pulled that out with the tshirt. Instead of the straw purse I carried during the summer, I went with a cognac leather bag. I wanted to wear these sandals before summer ended so I went with sandals, but a pair of booties or suede mules or slides would certainly up the fall vibes on this outfit. I’m really beginning to think that I need some suede open toe mules because it’s still so hot that my feet sweat in booties and closed toe mules. I have been really pleased with these mules this summer, so I think a suede pair would be nice for all. What do you think? Have I talked myself into it?
For easy fall transitioning, make a solid investment in a denim skirt:
